A Second (A Short Story)

The room suddenly fills with light, and that is what I realise that that sound I heard a few moments ago was a key, shit. I should have left when I had the chance. I turn around and see that it’s not Hannah.

I guess in a second you can go from sorting out a surprise for your fiancee to lying on the floor grabbing your stomach. I didn’t even hear the gun go off. Hannah never came home.

This short story is a part of my ‘Project 642’ series. Where I try and work my way through the entire ‘642 Things to Write About’ book.
This was written on the 25th August 2016.
This is story 1 out of 624. The prompt is below.

  • What can happen in a second.
