As anyone who knows me will be able to tell you is that I have always preferred film cameras and more so instant film photography such as Polaroid 600 film and Fuji FP-100 film. In this post I wanted to show you some of my favourite Polaroid photographs that I have taken. The majority of these were taken with my Polaroid One600 Pro. Which to be honest is a pretty standard Polaroid camera really. The only differences that you find between the Polaroid One600 and the Polaroid One600 Pro are the following;
The One600 Pro has a Lighten/Darken switch. Allowing you to adjust exposure before you take your shot making sure that fit comes out correct. The only problem is that you usually have to take a shot to know whether or not you have to chance the exposure. The One600 doesn’t have this.
The One600 Pro has a strap making easier to carry in your hand whilst the One600 does not.
That’s pretty much the only difference between the two Polaroid One600 cameras. But I am glad that I decided to buy the Polaroid One600 Pro mainly for the Lighten/Darken switch. It has proved useful, and it’s always better to have than not too.
I have built up a collection of Polaroid cameras over the years. But the Polaroid One600 Pro still remains one of my favourites because of how mobile it is. I have also got a Polaroid 600SE which is a professional level Polaroid Camera and to be honest one of the prides of my camera collection. It is [at times] also called the GOOSE by it’s owners. Developed with Mamiya, it uses Mamiya lenses and has a Polaroid back. As far as I know it’s the only Polaroid camera that has interchangeable lenses. There are a select of three, the 127mm is the standard focal length. The 150mm is the telephoto lens [this is the lens that I have attached to my Polaroid 600SE body] and you have the wide angle lens which is a 75mm which you use a special viewfinder which sits in the hotshoe. As you can imagine it’s pretty big and because of that it doesn’t lend itself to being taken around to places. But I have performed a couple of photo shoots with it and I will place an example of a portrait I have taken with the Polaroid 600SE on this post. Along with the others.
The photograph that was taken with the Polaroid 600SE is distinguishable from the others as it has a different border. This is because the Polaroid 600SE uses a different film than that of the Polaroid One600 Pro. The Polaroid One600 Pro takes Polaroid 600 film, so called because it has an ISO rating of 600 ISO. And the Polaroid 600SE takes Polaroid 100 film, Fujifilm FP-100 and Fujifilm FP-3000. With all of these films the number correlates to the respective ISO rating of the films.
The good thing about Polaroid film is that it is back. The Impossible project has started manufacturing film that can go into Polaroid cameras in the former Polaroid factory in Enschede in the Netherlands. If you would like to read more about this and possibly purchase some of the new film please click here or on any of the photographs below. I would like to state though that none of these photographs were taken with the new film. These Polaroid photos are just a collection of my favourite to date. I have included nine photographs. Eight from the Polaroid One600 Pro and One from the Polaroid 600SE. I hope you enjoy.
