Printed Work | Time Out [Dubai]

This post was supposed to be a post on Polaroid’s but I haven’t got the files on this computer and I haven’t finished writing it up yet. So I’m going to write about something that I only found out about an hour ago. Last year before I moved to Bangor I did a photography session to produce a set of portraits for a DJ named Pete Doyle. And I just found out that Pete Doyle has recently released an album and he is currently out in Dubai doing promotional work for the album.

I got sent a link this morning that shows one of my photographs being used in Time Out Dubai wherein he has been interviewed about his new album and his influences and so forth. As far as I am aware this is the first time that a photograph I have taken has been put into print. And also [not including Flickr and this blog] that my work has been seen in Dubai and Egypt and so forth.

I’ve also been told that he is using another one of my images as his CD cover. Which I like because it means that people in Dubai and Egypt and that sort of area will have a photo I have taken if they purchase his CD.

It was taken over a year ago but to the best of my recollection it was taken using a Canon 28mm lens with a Canon EOS 50D. And it is a part of a series of photographs. All of the photographs were taken in a rented studio in Orpington, Kent for Pete Doyle and Austen Allen Music.

I remember when I was taking them, it was the first time I was taking photographs in a photographic studio for years and I was afraid that I wouldn’t remember what I was doing. But as I started it all just cam flowing back and I was in the zone in a matter of minutes andI found it to be a very successfull portrait session. And Pete and I got on very well making it a very relaxed enviornment to photograph in.

Just a small note, I have not marked the image below with a watermark because it is from the Time Out in Dubai’s website. I may in the future put a few other photographs from the set on this blog.
